Just Words? Anthony Seeger on Applied Ethnomusicology

The six videos and podcast included in "Just Words?" capture a lecture entitled "What is it all for? Applying Scholarship Outside the Classroom: Indigenous Rights, Archiving, Folkways Records, and Professional Organizations" given by Dr. Anthony Seeger at UCLA on February 22, 2012. Each video corresponds to a segment of the lecture, including Dr. Seeger's reflections on the definition of applied ethnomusicology and his experiences applying ethnomusicological knowledge to projects at Folkways Records, UNESCO, Indiana University's music archives, and in the context of the Brazilian indigenous rights movement. The downloadable podcast is an audio recording of the lecture in its entirety, including a brief introduction by Dr. Daniel Neuman.
