On February 29, 2008, a host of colleagues and friends said thank you to Betty Price, who retired after 26 years of service, most recently as a Management Services Officer for the departments of Music and Ethnomusicology. There was food and fun, laughter, tears, and great music. Sonia Luna, accompanied by Robert Winter on piano, sang "Bess, You Is My Woman Now," from the musical Porgy and Bess. A jazz trio, with students Nick DePinna, Hitomi Oba, and Noah Garabedian performed, and Kenny Burrell, Christoph Bull, and Gary Gray sang a blues number written just for Betty. The sentiment was echoed over and over: Betty Price gave her heart and soul to both departments. Thank you, Betty!
