The UCLA Departments of Etnomusicology and Music are pleased to
announce the selection of Martha Rider as our new Management
Services Officer. Martha will be replacing Betty Price who
retired in February 2008 after 27 years of service.
Martha has worked for the last few years for both
departments as the financial administrator, and now will assume
even greater responsibilities as the new MSO. Martha has wide-ranging
administrative experience at both UCLA and with her previous job
at Quotron Systems/Citibank, where she successfully oversaw 120
employees.
Martha's major responsibilities as MSO include financial management
and analysis, material and facilities management, supervision of
contract and grant administration, supervision of academic and
apprentice personnel activities, and supervision and utilization
of all staff personnel. Martha will also act as a liaison between
the departments and other University administrative units, University
central administration, and outside agencies.
Martha's expertise will be integral to new projects that arise out of
the new UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, and we look forward to her
leadership.
