Max Jack
Max conducted his fieldwork in Dublin, Ireland while completing his MA in Ethnomusicology at Tufts University. He worked primarily with David Locke and Richard Jankowsky on his MA thesis. Max earned his BA from Union College, studying with Jennifer Milioto Matsue who convinced him to pursue graduate study in ethnomusicology. Now a doctoral student at University of California, Santa Barbara, his primary academic interests center around topics of music, sports, ritual, and conflict. His research investigates soccer stadia as a space where conflict is stoked through the ritualized performance of reappropriated pop music.
