Rebecca Dirksen

Rebecca Dirksen is a 2012-2014 Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She graduated in June 2012 from UCLA with a PhD in Ethnomusicology, after having completed fieldwork in pre- and post-quake Haiti. Her dissertation concerns socially and politically engaged music, cultural action, and grassroots development in Port-au-Prince. Other primary research interests include creative responses to crisis and disaster and Haitian classical piano music.
